Zoo visit in times of COVID-19

Certificate requirement

Admission to the Dählhölzli Zoo (vivarium and outdoor section behind it) is open to persons over the age of 16 with a valid COVID certificate together with official identification.

The COVID certificate serves as proof that you:

  • have a negative result on an official COVID test.
  • have been fully vaccinated.
  • have had a COVID illness less than 180 days ago.

The COVID certificate will be checked at the entrance to the Dählhölzli Zoo, we ask you to have your valid certificate and a personal ID ready.

On September 8, the Federal Council extended the certification requirement to facilities, such as zoos and animal parks, in which not only outdoor areas are open to visitors.

The certificate requirement allows us to remove many previously applicable regulations and restrictions. This applies to:

  • Annotated seal and puffin feedings will resume.
  • The jungle aviary is open again.
  • The mask requirement is lifted in all animal houses.
  • Multiple entry to the Dählhölzli Zoo is possible again (please show your certificate and ID again).
  • All one-way systems are lifted.
  • The path between the seals and the elk is accessible to all again.
  • The visitor limit in the Vivarium will be raised to 200 people as a first step.

Entry and exit

Upon entry to the Dählhölzli Zoo, your valid certificate and photo ID will be checked. Disinfectant is available in front of the entrance to the Vivarium, use it for your and our safety.

We do not offer testing before the entrance.

Leaving the Dählhölzli Zoo is only possible through the revolving gate opposite the Wisentstall. The revolving gate is suitable for baby carriages and wheelchairs, even twin baby carriages fit through well.
